How much do the workshops cost? The Workshop 1 is offered at no cost to you through sponsorships with community and civic organizations, as well as other organizations and professionals committed to preserving generational wealth. Workshop 2 is TBD, but group discounts are available.

Why is Workshop 1 free and Workshop 2 paid?
Workshop 1 is offered as a free community education session so families can get oriented without pressure.
Workshop 2 goes deeper and includes guided preparation designed to help you get attorney-ready. The fee reflects the time, materials, and hands-on guidance involved.How much does Workshop 2 cost?

Why should I participate if I already have a will or trust?
Many people misunderstand what wills and trust do and what happens when they are gone. Our workshops provide guidance on how to ensure your wishes are actually carried out.
Will you review my documents or give recommendations?
No. We do not review legal documents, recommend strategies, or suggest outcomes. The workshops explain estate planning concepts so you can have a more informed discussion with your attorney later, saving you time and money.
Are you a non-profit or a law firm?
No. We are a for-profit business with a social purpose. We offer legal information for educational purposes only, but we are not a law firm.
Will you tell me whether I need a will or a trust?
No. Choosing legal tools for your specific needs and goals is a decision made with an attorney.
Are professionals involved in the workshops?
Some workshops are supported bycommunity sponsors (such as attorneys or financial professionals).

Our workshop series introduces key concepts to understand before meeting with an attorney or other professionals, so you can approach planning with clarity, confidence, and intention.

Cheryl Turner
Founder, Atlanta Legacy Project

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Cheryl F. Turner is a seasoned attorney committed to community service and expanding opportunities for others.
She is a graduate of Emory College and Emory University School of Law and is an active alumna.
Cheryl is proud to be an alumna of Thomas, Kennedy, Sampson & Tompkins LLP, Georgia’s oldest African American law firm and spent most of her career at The Coca-Cola Company. While there, she worked on innovative marketing programs and is most proud of her work on programs that delivered more than $1,000,000 in scholarships to diverse communities.
A dedicated member of the Gate City Bar Association, Georgia’s oldest African American bar association, Cheryl was honored to serve as its president in 2016. She is also the founder of the Gate City Bar Summer Associate Program, which has provided summer legal experiences for deserving law students for more than fifteen years and awarded almost $200,000 in scholarships.
Her service to the Atlanta community includes serving as the president of the Summerhill neighborhood association, where she worked to ensure legacy residents could remain in their homes during an ongoing period of rapid redevelopment and gentrification.
An advocate for civic engagement, she has also organized and led voter education forums for key elections, worked to protect citizens’ right to vote, and is a board member with the Atlanta Civic Circle, a non-partisan, non-profit journalism platform covering critical issues in Atlanta.
